SURF
The current mobility revolution not only opens up new ways of getting around, it also brings new challenges in terms of road safety, especially in urban traffic. Increasingly differentiated means of transportation, especially in the area of vulnerable road users (VRU), such as cargo bikes, e-bikes, electric scooters or electric skateboards, are already part of everyday traffic. This not only changes the speed spectrum of VRUs, it also brings with it unforeseeable accident risks. In addition, new safety requirements for cars and trucks are becoming necessary due to electromobility and automated driving.
In order to make a contribution to increasing road safety, the SURF project is focusing on three transfer priorities in the areas of intelligent traffic monitoring, accident simulation and injury prediction as well as battery safety for electrified mobility.
