Key Research Areas

The key research areas form the scientific framework of the Sustainability Centre. The selection corresponds to the competences in the LZN, which receive added value in particular through the cooperation of several LZN stakeholders and which are highly topical in both the research and sustainability discourse. The internal research funding and the transfer offers of the office are also orientated towards the focal points and are specified by the differentiated subject areas of the focal points.

The key research areas form their own spheres of activity, which exist in the form of specialised communities. Action communities are formed through regular exchange in order to facilitate consortium projects funded by third parties and other collaborations. This process is coordinated by the office and also supported by suitable transfer formats. Each specialised community is coordinated by a spokesperson as a multiplier and contact person, especially for enquiries from companies.

Thematic fields

There are currently three application-oriented thematic fields per key research area. These are treated from the vantage point of developing joint solutions to existing challenges within the key areas. Thereby, unique selling points for a special quality of science are developed.
