ActiPipe: Active heatpipes for sustainable cooling

Experts have identified cooling technology as one of the fastest growing fields of new energy demand, as each year, more than 50 million air conditioners are installed worldwide. In the pilot project "ActiPipe", the foundations for a new, resilient, efficient and environmentally friendly cooling method are laid by using active heatpipes and thus taking advantage of the magnetocaloric effect. By complete elimination of environmentally harmful refrigerants that are still being used in air conditioners, refrigerators, etc., the project rooted in the research area Energy Systems s can make a significant contribution to sustainability.
