As the Sustainability Center Freiburg, we had the opportunity to engage in numerous conversations, establish new connections, and present our current research approaches. Particularly encouraging was the exchange on practical solutions that support companies in acting both ecologically responsible and economically successful.
We contributed to the congress with the following focus areas:
- Data-driven transparency across the entire product life cycle
- AI-supported analysis and decision-making processes
- Sustainable design of products and processes
- Circular materials and closed-loop systems
Key insights from the congress discussions:
Frank Huberth (Fraunhofer IWM): “Thinking in terms of resources rather than waste proves to be a key approach to unlocking alternative materials.”
Martin Huschka (Fraunhofer EMI): “Costly and time-consuming life cycle assessments are a relevant challenge for industry. SnapLCA is therefore a highly sought-after solution.”
Matthias Quast (University of Freiburg, INATECH): “It is encouraging to see that the circular economy is not a niche topic in Baden-Württemberg, but a central concern of the state government – evident through the involvement of numerous institutions and the opening speech by the Minister President.”
We are taking away many new impulses and look forward to the next steps toward a sustainable transformation.
