In the future, supercapacitors will play an important role as energy storage. One example of their typical application is the compensation of power peaks, for example when starting or braking an electrically operated vehicle, while the basic energy supply is provided by batteries. In the pilot project "G-ONET", high-performance functional graphene-organic materials for supercapacitors are investigated that can be produced cost-effectively and scalably, while at the same time meeting the criteria of green chemistry. For this reason, the project is directly integrated into the research area Sustainable Materials.
